New Personality Theory Offers Advantages in Treatment

JUNE 27, 2014

There are advantages of using The Process Healing Method based on a new personality theory.

  • First, compared to all personality theories, it is the most respectful treatment method for psychological issues available now. Usually, all aspects of the personality will willingly accept treatment and integration. It is really a personality theory explaining multiple personality disorder
  • An advantage of this method is that it is logical, and based on a personality theory that describes the personality in a way that encompasses all facets of human behavior.
  • It is exceptionally effective with patients with Multiple Personality Disorder (MPD). All parts want more happiness and less pain. This truism allows parts to want to be treated and integrated.
  • The therapist offers a personality theory readily accepted by patients and all parts of MPD patients. Our experiences from conception create many memory structures that defines the personality. Mental issues have unique memory structures, which are the focus of treatment. The treatment interventions make sense to the patients.
  • The therapist ignores the drama of trauma and the purpose of personality parts. Ignoring the drama, treating, and integrating the memory structure of the issue saves treatment time. This is especially true when working with MPD patients.
  • When all parts agree, the therapist teaches the subconscious the method for treating issues. Then, the therapist can simply ask the subconscious to treat any well-defined issue.
  • Bothersome mental issues are memory structures motivated by emotion. The subconscious treats these issues by replacing the negative emotions with neutral or positive emotions, after which, the symptom no longer occurs.
  • This personality theory is the basis for organizing all parts of an MPD personality to willingly join a treatment team. This means that they will accept treatment and integration. There is no time-consuming therapy negotiating with parts as personalities. It also avoids much of the disruption caused by parts during treatment.
  • Integration with MPD patients is simply two memory structures sharing memories until both have identical memories. Integration preserves the parts’ memories and the protective behaviors. After integration, they can run the body from morning to night without conflict. Parts accept integration as defined.
  • The positive attributes of parts, even the meanest parts, can be strengthened with positive emotions. After integration, these attributes will be available and used in the main personality for suitable situations.
  • The subconscious does all the treatment and serves as an ally in problem-solving difficult issues. A therapist can usually resolve barriers by problem-solving, so treatment can take place at a comfortable pace.
  • The therapist can treat beliefs and replace them with positive, self-empowering beliefs composed by the patient, therapist, or the subconscious.
  • The protocol for treating fragile parts without a painful experience removes the fear of emotional flooding. This makes parts more willing to join the treatment team. Multiple personality disorders become easier to treat.
  • The theory clarifies the definitions of many constructs used to explain the activity of the personality. This serves to normalize patients’ problem behaviors.
  • A patient can use the theory and their subconscious to treat issues between sessions and after their therapy ends.

This is all explained in the book “A Theory and Treatment of Your Personality” by Garry A. Flint.
