A method to gain more satisfaction and less pain
• by neutralizing Negative Emotion Memories and increasing Positive Emotion Memories.
• using the Innerself (also termed the Subconscious) to carry out treatment protocols.

An Education Process is taught to the client/patient.
• The client is taught a way to communicate with inner Parts of the personality.
• Checks are made with the Parts to ensure it is safe to proceed.

Then, a Treatment Process is taught via a metaphor to the Innerself.
• Afterwards, the Innerself is instructed to neutralize Negative Emotion Memories, (that are associated to negative memories and behavior patterns) related to the current issue at hand.
• The Innerself/Subconscious adjusts the dosage of treatment and the rate of treatments, (so as not to destabilize the client/patient).
• Positive emotions are associated to new coping mechanisms and better behaviors.
• Parts are now able to be integrated into the Main Personality.
• Further work can be carried out on ‘newly awakened’ Parts, hindering beliefs, or other ‘Memory Structures’ causing pain. Treatment can also take the form of acquiring and bolstering new skills/qualities in the Main Personality.

Dr. Flint’s Method has been used successfully in the treatment of phobias, addictions, personality disorders, learned mental & physical dysfunctions and much more. It has been successfully used with people of all ages.

It is also being used to add new personality traits and better behaviors, including greater concentration, improved quality of life and in the aid of acquiring new skills.

Sure, Dr. Flint posted the following article that summarizes Process Healing:

There are also many articles from his (now defunct) websites that have been reconstructed here in the articles section.

There is also a free reformatted PDF of the Introduction and the first 3 chapters from his first book on the PHM available to download by clicking here.

The term ‘Parts’ is widely used in differing therapeutic models. You can click here to read more about the differences.

In the PHM, Dr. Flint uses the term Part to describe a neural structure within the brain, to which certain memories have become associated. These ‘neural structures with associated memories‘ sometimes provoke intrusive thoughts into the Conscious Experience or even take-over and run the body when triggered.

Sometimes Dr. Flint also uses the word ‘Aspects’ interchangeably with the term ‘Parts’ but there is a actually a distinction between the two.

Aspects are more of a catch-all term for Parts, Beliefs, Intense Memories and other Memory Structures.

Parts are more specific ‘neural structures with associated memories‘ that can sometimes be addressed in an anthropomorphic way – i.e. a 7-Year-Old Part can be spoken to and ‘called upon’ to help with treatment. Another example is a Pre-birth Part, formed in utero, which can sometimes interfere and block communication with The Subconscious.

So maybe you’re feeling sad… or even scared right now?

Maybe, no matter what you do, this sadness (or that fear) won’t go away?

Maybe this sadness, or fear, or other types of bad feelings are caused by little ‘Parts’… within your mind!

Woaaah!!

Have you seen the movie Inside Out? If not, watch the trailer for it right now before reading any further: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRUAzGQ3nSY

Did you see how those little cartoon characters inside the heads of each person are acting up in different ways? They are just like Parts!

Over many years, lots of kind and caring people have tried to find ways to help Parts feel better – Dr. Garry Flint was one of them.

Dr. Flint discovered a way to talk to a very special Part which goes by many names, (the Innerself, the Subconscious and even the Superconscious) but we can call it ‘Subby’!

Subby can see everything that the other Parts are doing and knows how they are feeling.

Dr. Flint found out that we can ask Subby to heal wounded Parts – even Parts that want to stay hidden and sometimes refuse to be helped!

Have you ever refused to be helped?

Maybe there are times when you don’t want to talk to anybody. But secretly, you still wanna feel happy and would like the pain to go away…

Well, all you have to do is talk to the Parts and ask them for their permission to share a type of story with Subby. Grown ups call this type of story a ‘Metaphor’.

The Metaphor is a very powerful story, because it teaches Subby how to fix and heal the other Parts. Crazy cool, huh?

Once everybody is happy for Subby to be taught the Metaphor, we can put Subby to work, healing and helping Parts to feel better and become accepted into the rest of the gang.

And don’t worry about Subby, it LOVES going to work. It can even heal Parts whilst you are sleeping or when you are doing something else altogether!

So whaddaya say? Wanna give it a go?
